How to get there
From the UK
Flying to Italy from the UK is very straightforward and relatively cheap. Pisa is by far the most popular airport for travel from the UK due to its cheap flights and ease of motorway access to both Florence and Siena. The following low-cost airlines have routes from a variety of UK airports:
www.ryanair.com
www.ba.com
www.jet2.com
www.thomsonfly.com
www.easyjet.com
Florence itself does have a small airport, served by two main airlines - Meridiana (www.meridiana.com) and Alitalia (www.alitalia.com). Neither are low-cost carriers, and we would strongly recommend flying into Pisa for cost reasons.
From non-UK locations
Florence, small as it is, can be incorporated in long-haul flights. Flying into Rome will mean you have a 3 hour drive to look forward to, although the journey will be amongst some of the most beautiful countryside, so not a huge chore!
